What’s New: College Scholar Award

ACCESS alumni who are of college age are invited to apply for an ACCESS College Scholar Award, a $1,000 one-time award to be used for books, computers, or other school-related expenses during college. This Award is open to all former students of ACCESS’ children’s programs, that is, After-school Enrichment Program, Summer Enrichment Program, and Chinese Culture Corner. Last year’s recipient of this award was Amy Huynh, a graduate of Boston Latin Academy and now enrolled in Boston University.

The applicant should submit

  • demonstration of financial need, supported by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form or other relevant document.

  • a letter of recommendation from a teacher or guidance counselor.
  • proof of acceptable to or proof of continued enrollment in an accredited 2-year or 4-year academic institution.
  • an essay that addresses the following topic: “Growing up Chinese-American: Rewards and Challenges” (500 words maximum)

Deadline for application is April 17, 2006.
